SC4 Technologies LLC
We build the connected things — and help other people build theirs.
SC4 Technologies is a small development and consulting studio. We take connected products from a sketch on a napkin all the way to something running in the real world: sensors and firmware, the cloud behind them, and the app people actually open.
What we do
Two halves of the same job
Most of our work falls into one of two buckets — and the two feed each other. What we learn shipping our own products is what we bring to client work.
Product development
We build and ship our own connected products, end to end. That means picking hardware that's affordable and actually available, writing the firmware and cloud services that hold it together, and designing apps people can figure out without a manual.
Consulting
Sometimes you don't need a whole team — you need someone who has already made the mistakes. We help with architecture, technology selection, prototyping, and getting a stalled project unstuck.
Things we like working with
- LoRa & LoRaWAN
- ESP32 & embedded sensors
- Node.js
- Flutter
- Cloudflare Workers
- Off-the-shelf IoT hardware
Our flagship project
DockNeighbor
A community platform for the people who share a dock. Neighbors watch each other's boats, share where they're headed, and stay in touch between trips — with monitoring underneath it, so the things that quietly ruin a season reach somebody who is close enough to help.
Affordable hardware
Built around off-the-shelf sensors and valves you can buy today, so getting started doesn't mean a custom install and a four-figure invoice.
Free to join
The core app is free on the web, desktop, and Android — and a neighbor who watches but owns no hardware joins at no cost at all. Optional hosted plans add remote access, sharing, and more places an alarm can reach.
Your call on the cloud
Run it fully local with no account at all, or use the hosted cloud for remote monitoring. It's a per-device choice you make explicitly.
Support
Need a hand, or want to talk about a project?
Using one of our apps and something isn't working? Head to DockNeighbor's support page — that's the fastest route to us. For consulting, partnerships, or anything else, email works fine.
